Lahore Police adopt comprehensive security for Pakistan-New Zealand T20I series

Pakistan and New Zealand are currently playing a five-match T20I series.

The Lahore Police has taken decisive measures to ensure foolproof security for the peaceful conduct of the Pakistan versus New Zealand T20I matches to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium.

After the first three T20Is were played in Rawalpindi, the action for the last two T20Is of the five-match series shifted to Lahore. The fourth T20I was played on Thursday, April 25, while the fifth encounter is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 27. 

During the two T20Is, more than 14 SPs, 37 SDPOs, 71 SHOs, and 448 subordinates, totalling over 5,500 police officials will be deployed to ensure the safety of the players, support staff, officials, and fans. Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said on Thursday that Lahore Police is implementing a comprehensive security plan for the high-octane Pakistan versus New Zealand T20I matches, which is serving as preparation for the impending T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.

Kamyana instructed the officers concerned to maintain continuous contact with the Pakistan Sports Board, district administration, and security agencies regarding cricket stadiums, players' accommodations and security plans for routes. He stated that before entering the stadium, every person would be thoroughly checked and female companions will be check BY Lady Police Force.

He also conveyed instructions for effective measures to maintain traffic flow during matches and to assess the law and order situation through Safe City Authority and other control rooms. CCPO Lahore issued instructions for effective patrolling by the Dolphin Force, Special Protection Unit(SPU) and Elite Force teams during matches and also directed senior police officers to remain present in the field to keep track of the situation minutely.

New Zealand have bounced back strongly from a defeat in the second T20I after the first game was washed out. The Blackcaps have won the last couple of matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into the final T20I in Lahore on Saturday.
