Lancashire sign Australian all rounder Ashton Turner for County and Vitality T20 blast
"To have the opportunity to join one of the biggest county cricket clubs in England is a really exciting one for me," said Turner
The season of franchise and domestic county championships has begun and some big cricketing personalities will feature in these tournaments. There have already been some great performances at the start of the 2025 season by some young and experienced players who have impressed the fans and the experts.
The other experienced individual who will also make himself available for County and franchise cricket is Australia all-rounder Ashton Turner. Turner might not have made a big impact in international cricket but has still given consistent performances in domestic cricket. The 32-year-old has just been signed by Lancashire for the upcoming Vitality T20 blast and also made himself available for the two county champions games which will be played at the end of June. Turner has also expressed his excitement about playing for the county team as well.
“To have the opportunity to join one of the biggest county cricket clubs in England is a really exciting one for me, Emirates Old Trafford is a stadium that I know well, following my two years with Manchester Originals - I am looking forward to making it home again this summer and pulling on the red rose for the first time,” said Turner.
“The Blast is a competition that I have loved playing in while testing myself in the County Championship is something I have always wanted to do, so I can't wait for that," The Perth-born all-rounder added.
Turner was not the only one who was happy to be signed to the club as Lancashire's direct of cricket performance Mark Chilton also expressed his joy of signing the batting all-rounder talking about what he brings to the side in the upcoming tournaments.
“We are really pleased to get the signing of Ashton over the line for the full group stage of the Vitality Blast, while he will also provide another high-quality overseas option for the County Championship matches throughout that period,” Chilton said
“Ashton fits the role of a powerful middle-order player that we have been looking to add to our T20 side, who also provides another spin bowling option. He knows Emirates Old Trafford very well following his time with the Originals, which means he will feel at home with conditions right away,” Chilton added.
