For those unfamiliar, the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Sri Lanka's professional Twenty20 cricket league established in 2020, has witnessed four seasons of competitive action. B-Love Kandy currently hold the title after clinching victory in the 2023 final.

Despite facing delays initially, the league overcame administrative challenges to commence its inaugural season in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With Samantha Dodanwala appointed as tournament director in 2022, the league saw continued growth, although the third edition in 2022 was postponed due to economic crises and protests in Sri Lanka.

The LPL, administered by Sri Lanka Cricket, features five teams named after Sri Lankan cities and follows a double round-robin and playoff format. As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming 2024 edition, the league continues to showcase thrilling matches, with players like Avishka Fernando and Wanindu Hasaranga leaving their mark as leading run-scorer and wicket-taker, respectively.
