Lanka T10 franchise Galle Marvels owner Prem Thakkur was arrested on charges of match-fixing on Thursday, December 12. The development occurred just a day after the tournament commenced which is the first-ever edition.
Thakkur, who is an Indian national, was arrested from his hotel in Kandy by the Sri Lanka Sports Police Unit. It is being said that a foreign player had reported a fixing approach by Thakkur. As per protocol, an ICC Anti-Corruption representative is present to oversee the tournament just like the LPL last year. Despite the development, Lanka T10 tournament director Samantha Dodanwela confirmed the first edition would go ahead as scheduled. Meanwhile, the SLC has not come out with any statement on the matter yet.

The Galle Marvels consists of some prominent names in the setup and is led by Sri Lankan keeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella and former T20 World champion Alex Hales. The incident could cause problems for the franchise in the future. The fans of the Marvels will be hoping that they can keep these problems aside and maintain their position at the top of the table.
