India wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha recently came forward and announced his retirement from international cricket on Sunday, November 3. Saha announced his retirement through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) and talked about competing in his final Ranji Trophy campaign.

It is worth noting that Saha turned 40 years old. Throughout his career, Saha has played 40 Test matches for team India, where he has scored 1353 runs, averaging 29.41 runs. Furthermore, he has represented India in nine ODI matches as well, where he has scored 41 runs.

His last Test appearance came in 2021 against New Zealand, but despite good performances, Saha was benched as KS Bharat was given a chance to be Rishabh Pant’s backup keeper.

“After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I’m honoured to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Let’s make this season one to remember!” Saha tweeted.

Saha reportedly says no to IPL

Further developments also state that Wriddhiman Saha has reportedly said no to participating in the upcoming season of the IPL (Indian Premier League) as well. According to a report by Sportstar, Saha is unlikely to participate in the tournament as he has not registered for the upcoming mega auction.

It is worth noting that Saha was not retained by Gujarat Titans ahead of the auction, and the veteran is one of the few players who have played every single season of the IPL since the tournament’s inception in 2008. Throughout his IPL career, he represented five IPL franchises: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Gujarat Titans (GT).
