Winning skipper Hashmatuallah Shahidi said:
"Quite happy and proud of the team. Happy for the way we performed in all 3 departments. Last game gave us lot of confidence and belief that we can chase any kind of target. It was a very professional performance from the bowlers today. All the coaching and managing staff are working hard and giving us confidence. Especially Jonathan (Trott) he is always positive, before Pakistan game he told me one word and that changed my mindset a lot. As a captain you should lead from the front and that's what I am trying to do, I will try to maintain that in the rest of the tournament. Rashid Khan is a special player and the best player in the world. He (Rashid Khan) is a very energetic guy and always keeps the team very lively. I want to congratulate all the Afghanistan supporters and especially want to thank the Indian fans for coming out and supporting us," Shahidi said.
Thank you for joining us. See you for another classic encounter tomorrow. Goodnight!
Losing skipper Kusal Mendis said:
"We didn't do enough with the bat. 300 or maybe 280 would have been sufficient, but not to be. Bowlers have done well in the first 10 overs and the dew has come in little bit and then it became a little hard to bowl the spinners. Actually there was dew today and the ball came on to the bat nicely in the second innings. He (Madushanka) has done really well, in the first couple of games as well and hope he will continue his form going forward," Mendis said.

POTM Fazalhaq Farooqi said:
"Thanks to the Almighty, nice to have 3 wins in the tournament, happy to have contributed to the team win. I was looking for swing with the new ball, but I didn't get it, so I just kept it simple, hit the right areas, didn't want to concede boundaries and that's how I succeeded. We conceded too many runs in the last few overs (in the previous matches), we put in the hard yards in the nets, bowling with accuracy and trying out as many variations as possible. That's exactly what we went out and did in the match today (translated by Rashid Khan)," Fazalhaq said.
AFGHANISTAN WIN SEVEN WICKETS!
Massive win for Afghanistan as they moved to seventh on the points table. Never before they won two games in a row in the tournament and hence, it's a new milestone in their cricketing history!

The 30th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Monday between Afghanistan (AFG) and Sri Lanka (SL).
Afghanistan, currently positioned in the bottom half of the standings with two wins out of five matches, are eager to climb up the league table. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi is confident in his team's ability to maintain their winning momentum against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka, high on confidence by their recent victory over England, also aim to keep their playoff aspirations alive. Impressive performances from Lahiru Kumara, Pathum Nissanka, and Sadeera Samarawickrama contributed to their success. Sri Lanka have a strong track record against Afghanistan in previous World Cup encounters, having faced them in 2015 and 2019.
Afghanistan will rely on their in-form openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, as well as the experience of Rahmat Shah and the all-around skills of Azmatullah Omarzai to score runs. The bowling lineup for Afghanistan, led by Naveen Ul Haq, Noor Ahmad, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi, will play a crucial role in taking timely wickets.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will look to Kusal Perera, captain Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Matthews, and Charith Asalanka to contribute with the bat. Pathum Nissanka stood out in their last match with an unbeaten 77.
The Sri Lankan bowling department will see a change as Lahiru Kumara has been ruled out of the tournament with a thigh injury, however, they will welcome Dushmantha Chameera to join Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka and Angelo Matthews in the pace department. The team will aim to restrict Afghanistan's batting lineup.
The weather forecast indicates sunny conditions with a humidity level of around 35%. The teams batting first would be eager to bat first, and set a competitive total on the board, as the average first innings score in Pune is around 300 runs.
