LLC 2022: Gujarat Giants receive major boost as Gayle Storm arrives for the tournament
Chris Gayle last played a T20 game in the Bangladesh Premier League 2022.
One of the T20 Giants, Chris Gayle has arrived to take part in the Legends League 2022 edition for Adani SportsLine's Gujarat Giants and will be available for the remainder of the tournament. The left-hander last played a T20 game in the month of February this year for the Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League 2022.
The 43-year-old is officially yet to announce his retirement from international cricket despite not being part of the scheme of things in the T20 World Cup 2022 for West Indies. Gayle has been a phenomenal T20 batter having played 463 games so far and holds most of the records in the format. The prolific six hitter has 22 centuries in the T20 format and hit 1056 sixes who is quite remarkable for any batter.
Coming to Gayle’s participation in the tournament, a lot of fans have been waiting to witness the Caribbean lad pair up with Virender Sehwag at the top of the order for Gujarat Giants. Gayle over the years has huge followers in India and has never failed to entertain the crowds ever since the inaugural edition of IPL.
Gujarat Giants’s campaign so far in LLC 2022
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Giants are currently placed at the second position in the points table with two wins in four games and have secured five points so far. In the previous game against India Capitals, the Gujarat Giants were led by Tillakaratne Dilshan in the absence of Sehwag and the side suffered their first loss in of the season.
However, with the arrival of Gayle, the batting order is quite strengthened and will be the much-needed boost for the remainder of the tournament. It is difficult to stop the Gayle Storm once he gets his touch and no boundaries are going to be big enough for the veteran batter. The Gujarat Giants will next play the Bhilwara Kings on Tuesday (September 27) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
