The Legends League Cricket (LLC) has announced the inclusion of a new set of players for the third edition of the tournament. The India Maharajas, who had earlier included former India international cricketers Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, have further strengthened their squad by adding Murali Vijay and Stuart Binny to it.
Murali Vijay announced his retirement from all forms of cricket earlier this year. The third season of LLC Masters will be his first competitive tournament since January. After joining the India Maharajas, he said he is looking forward to playing alongside his old friends in the LLC Masters.
“I am delighted to be a part of LLC Masters 2023 and absolutely stoked to step onto the field for the India Maharajas. We have a strong squad that looks balanced in all departments, and I am really excited to take to the field with my old friends and teammates,” Vijay said.
Meanwhile, Asia Lions have roped in former Pakistan fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Sohail Tanvir. On the other hand, World Giants, the title winners of the inaugural season, have earned the services of former England captain, Paul Collingwood.
Mohammed Amir will be the youngest player for Asia Lions
Mohammed Amir, 30, is considered one of the best fast bowlers to have come out of the country. The Pakistan bowler will be the youngest cricketer to play for the Asia Lions.
“I feel privileged to be a part of LLC Masters 2023. I will be playing alongside some of my former teammates, but at the same time, some of the legends whom we have grown up seeing in action, like Shoaib Akhtar and Abdul Razzaq. I am very sure that it is going to be an exciting contest, and I am looking forward to it," said Amir after joining the Asia Lions.
The third edition of LLC Masters is scheduled to begin from March 10 in Doha. The India Maharajas will be locking horns with the Asia Lions in the curtain raiser at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium.
