'Lot of credit goes to Jasprit Bumrah' - Arshdeep Singh reflects on his successful T20 World Cup campaign so far

India pacer Arshdeep Singh has been terrific in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The left-arm pacer has 15 dismissals to his name - second-highest in the mega tournament. He has been sensational with the new ball and has been effective towards the backend whenever the pacer has been handed the ball.

In India’s last match against Australia, Arshdeep picked up three wickets, two of which were picked in his final over. Speaking about his success in the T20 World Cup, Arshdeep credited Jasprit Bumrah and stated that the star India pacer created the pressure, on which he simply capitalized. 

The Guna-born cricketer explained that the batters are coming hard at him and are taking risks, which has helped him pick plenty of wickets. He added that Bumrah usually gives away three to four runs in an over, which is why the batters tend to score runs against him and Arshdeep capitalizes on that.

“I guess a lot of credit goes to Jasprit because he puts a lot of pressure on the batters. He gives what, three or four runs in and over. So, batsmen are coming hard against me and when they are trying, I just have to try and bowl my best ball and there are a lot of chances of getting wickets there because on the other hand, they see the runs are not coming and the asking rate is going high,” Arshdeep was quoted as saying by India Today.

“So, they take more risk against me and there’s a chance always of getting a wicket there. So there’s a lot of credit of my wickets that goes to Jasprit,” added.

With a win over Australia in the Super Eights, India booked their place in the semi-final of the marquee tournament. They will play against England in the semi-final at Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27 and the winner of the match will qualify for the final and will face the winner of South Africa vs Afghanistan on June 29.
