Chennai Super Kings iconic skipper MS Dhoni has been the centre of attention in IPL 2023 with talks of his retirement from the game being a topic of hot debate among fans and experts. However, former CSK player and Dhoni's teammate Suresh Raina has dropped a huge bombshell on the legendary skipper's future in the competition.
The crowds have been flocking to the venues this season not only to support their local teams but also to cheer for veteran Indian skipper MS Dhoni, rumoured to be playing his last season. Even though Dhoni has never made his intentions public regarding his retirement, the topic has been in the news ever since his farewell from the international circuit.
However, former Indian cricketer and Dhoni's teammate Suresh Raina has seemingly put an end to the speculation surrounding his former skipper's retirement in a latest interview. Raina, who is part of JioCinema's experts' panel, revealed that the 2011 World Cup-winning skipper is not planning to retire this season.
The southpaw stated this after a conversation with the CSK skipper, where the iconic wicketkeeper-batter revealed his desire to lift the IPL trophy one more time before calling time on his distinguished career.
“Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year),” Raina said on JioCinema.
MS Dhoni gives a befitting reply to Danny Morrison
Interestingly, the former Indian skipper had sent shockwaves around the country at the toss ahead of his side's encounter against Lucknow Super Giants last week. Dhoni had quirked that he had never mentioned anything about his retirement after Kiwi commentator Danny Morrison asked him about his swansong.
"This wonderful swansong tour, your last, how are you enjoying it?" asked Morrison. Dhoni, with a smile on his face, replied, "Well, you have decided it's my last."
