‘Makes me feel a little sorry’ - Ravichandran Ashwin reflects on state of Pakistan Cricket

Pakistan cricket seems to be going through a low phase, the side has showcased consecutive subpar performances. The side recently lost a Test series to Bangladesh in their backyard and are now set to take on England in a Test series. 

The side’s subpar performances have seen many critics come forward and give their take on the side’s situation, opining that something needs to change as soon as possible. 

On the same day, veteran India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin took centre stage and talked about the continued deteriorating state of Pakistan Cricket.

“I am speaking the truth when I say that the current state of Pakistan Cricket and the phase they are going through makes me feel a little sorry. Because some of the most exceptional cricketers have played for Pakistan, and it was such a great team,” Ravichandran Ashwin said in a video.

Furthermore, Ashwin also commented on the constant captaincy changes within Pakistan Cricket. He compared the situation to a game of musical chairs, stating that it feels like anyone comes up and grabs a chair. 

“Their whole musical chairs situation is truly something. The music keeps playing, and they just keep grabbing a chair, that is how it feels. They lost in the 2023 ODI World Cup, then Babar resigned, then Afridi was given the captaincy, then again Babar was given limited overs and Shan Masood was made the captain in Test cricket, and look at the situation, Pakistan have not won a Test match at home. I mean, they have not won a Test match for a long time, maybe around 1000 days, 3 years have passed,” Ashwin said.

It is worth noting that with Pakistan struggling to register a win and Babar Azam resigning from limited-overs captaincy once more, Pakistan will now look to shift their focus onto the upcoming games. They kick off the Test series against England by facing them in Multan on October 7.
