The 21-year-old Mayank Yadav had a sensational IPL debut claiming three wickets. Drafted by the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2024 IPL season, Yadav arrived with a big reputation after having great performances in Indian domestic cricket. The young fast bowler from Delhi made an immediate impact, starring in LSG's first victory of the season match against Punjab Kings.

In the post-match press conference, while talking about his brilliant performance, he also said many people have often told him that he looks like Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. "Many people have said that sometimes you look like Suryakumar Yadav & sometimes you look like Jasprit Bumrah so I keep hearing this," he said.

Brought into the attack with Punjab's openers Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan batting at 88/0, Yadav delivered a masterclass of fast bowling. Clocking speeds over 145 mph consistently, he immediately got control. His fourth delivery of his second over got the wicket of the dangerous Bairstow for 42.

In his next over, he got rid of Prabhsimran Singh as Punjab collapsed from 102/0 to 128/2. Yadav's third wicket, Jitesh Sharma for six put brakes on Punjab's chase of 200. His figures of 3/27 from four overs earned him the Player of the Match award on debut.

LSG has had a decent start to their campaign after losing their opening game against Rajasthan Royals, the Lucknow-based franchise came back strong in their first home game and opened their account in the points table.

On the other hand, PBKS have lost two back-to-back games on the road after winning their opening game of the season against Delhi Capitals. The Shikhar-Dhawan-led side will play another away game of the season against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad before traveling back home to face Sunrisers Hyderabad.
