NZ vs PAK 2025: Mark Chapman to miss third ODI against Pakistan after injury setback
After suffering a hamstring injury in the first ODI, Mark Chapman missed the second match and will now be unavailable for the third and final ODI against Pakistan.
The centurion of the first ODI, Mark Chapman, will not be featuring in the third and final ODI between New Zealand (NZ) and Pakistan (PAK). The talented middle-order batter has still not recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in the first ODI in Napier at McLean Park. A terrible turn of events after finally finding some form.
Despite missing some of their biggest stars in international cricket, New Zealand still managed to dominate Pakistan in the three-match ODI series. Notably, they won the first two ODIs to gain an unassailable lead in the ongoing series.
It has been a dominant performance from the team, which has had a long list of injured players in the mix as well. Apart from Chapman, the likes of Tom Latham were also ruled out of the series due to the fracture he suffered during training. This turned out to be a sad turn of events for Chapman, since he had just ended his century drought in the 50-over format, scoring an incredible 132 off 111 deliveries in the game, and was the player of the match.
As a result, ahead of the second ODI, Chapman was replaced by the Kiwi pacer, Ben Sears. This turned out to be a great decision from the Black Caps since Sears went on to claim a five-wicket haul in the game. However, this also ruins the opportunity for Chapman to finally establish himself in one-day cricket.

Final ODI a chance for clean sweep
Speaking of the third ODI, it is going to be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. This will be a chance for New Zealand to finish the series with a clean sweep, while Pakistan will only be playing for pride in the upcoming fixture. The Michael Bracewell-led side is still looking in top form and will be confident going into the game.
