Match Officials for India-Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 game announced

India and Pakistan will lock horns on October 14.

The much-awaited India vs Pakistan match in the ODI World Cup 2023 will be held on Saturday, October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The excitement among the fans for the high-voltage clash is at its highest as they’re eagerly waiting for the two heavyweight giants to collide against each other. Ahead of the much-anticipated encounter, ICC (International Cricket Council) have announced the officials for the game.

According to reports, Richard Illingworth and Marais Erasmus will be the on-field umpires during the big game while English international umpire Richard Kettleborough will take up the role of the third umpire role. Meanwhile, Andy Pycroft will be the match referee.

Notably, the ODI World Cup 2023 is all set to begin from October 05 with the opening game between the finalists of the previous edition, New Zealand and England, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the eyes of the fans are set on the India-Pakistan clash as people are ready to splurge exorbitant amounts to watch the arch-rivals lock horns.

There have been widespread reports of people spending huge amounts of money to witness the epic encounter with accommodation and travel prices at an all-time high. However, the fans are unfazed by the soaring rates and are ready to do anything to be a part of the biggest game of the cricketing extravaganza.

India boast of a clean record over Pakistan in ODI World Cup

Both India and Pakistan players are also well aware of the pressure the game would bring and have begun their preparations accordingly to live up to the expectations of their fans. The Men-in-Blue boast of a clean record against Pakistan as they’ve won on all the seven occasions the two teams have faced each other in the ODI World Cup.

Hence, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be once again under pressure to keep their unbeaten record intact while the Babar Azam-led side will come into the game under huge pressure to beat India for the first time on the biggest stage of cricket.
