The Australian team is being surrounded by drama whether it is the red-ball or the white-ball format. The Test series against Sri Lanka was a big success as they won the two matches convincingly beating the Lankan Lions in their own den, but could not get the better of the home team in the ODIs.

The Test series witnessed scintillating performances and some of them came from the 28-year-old left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann who emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 16 scalps from the four innings he played. However, he has been facing issues recently with his dislocated thumb and the ICC also reporting his action. This is a slightly dark phase in his career in which he might be missing out on a lot of cricket. Notably, he will be missing the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia from Tuesday, February 18.

Though it seemed like due to this injury Kuhnemann might get temporary relief from testing by the ICC it turns out there will be no such break for him as the injury is in his right thumb which is his non-bowling hand.

All we can do as a group is throw our support: Tasmania captain Jordan Silk

During these tough times, Kuhnemann’s Tasmania captain and middle-order batter Jordan Silk has shared his words of support for him and has hoped that he gets cleared as soon as possible.

“All we can do as a group is throw our support behind him, He has obviously had a fantastic couple of weeks away with the Aussie side and was a big factor in them winning that series over there. It's come as a shock to a lot of people, but all we can do as an organisation is wrap our arms around him and look forward to having him back around the group,” Silk said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“He's still a quality bowler for us and someone we expect to have an impact later in the year, We're really confident that process will go smoothly and we can welcome him back to our change-rooms and have him be a big part of our season,” Silk added.
