'May not get VIP treatment there' - Mohammad Kaif urges Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to pledge domestic appearance
"They need form, and they need to bat hours there," said Kaif.
Former India cricketer, Mohammed Kaif has come hard at the star Indian batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The duo is under the scanners after their dismal performance in the Tests recently. Both Indian batting stalwarts have scored just one half century in their last 10 innings. With India tasting the historic series loss against New Zealand recently, both players are at the receiving end of the heat.
The Indian batting set-up’s struggle against the spin was the highlight of their collapse game after game. With that being evident, former India cricketers cited lack of domestic appearance as the reason for out of touch approach. Kaif seconded his peers thoughts and added that the players should not enter domestic circuit expecting a VIP treatment, rather to get back to the groove.

“Absolutely. They need form, and they need to bat hours there. If they end up scoring a hundred, then it will benefit them immensely and serve as a morale booster. So whoever thinks that they are struggling to score runs and did not get enough game time, they should 100 per cent play in domestic cricket. Forget that you travel in big cars and flights and that you may not get VIP treatment there. If you want to find form, you need to put in that effort,” said Kaif in a video uploaded on in ‘X’ handle.
Meanwhile, Rohit and Virat have experience a drop in the latest ICC Test ranking for the batters. Kohli moved down from 14 to 22nd spot, while Rohit experience a dip from 24th to 26th spot.
Here’s a look at Rohit-Virat's New Zealand series stats:
Rohit Sharma: 6 innings, 91 runs, highest score 52, average 15.16
Virat Kohli: 6 innings, 93 runs, highest score 70, average 15.50
