The 2024-25 season of Super Smash is all set to get down to business at the business end of December as defending champions, the Auckland Aces, lock horns with the winners of the 2021-22 and 2022-23 editions, the Northern Districs of the men's Super Smash. As for the women's Super Smash, the Northern Brave will take on the Auckland Hearts at Seddon Park in Hamilton, which will be the venue for the season-opener of both divisions. Both tournaments will run for a week with 32 double-headers to be played by the men and the women.

The forthcoming edition will be the first of its kind in terms of the venue of the final, which this time around is a pre-set one. The Eliminator as well as the two finals for both the men's and women's events will be played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The aforementioned games will be played on successive days.

We hope to see it reach new heights this summer: Scott Weenink

The CEO of New Zealand Cricket, Scott Weenik, was stirred by the competition and also mentioned that a staggering 1.3 million Kiwis viewed the event via their television sets last year.

"The Super Smash keeps on growing in popularity and it's really exciting to see it continue to be so accessible to Kiwis across the country. It's a fantastic opportunity to showcase our game to fans both new and old, while building the profiles of our domestic teams and our rising stars. It's fast becoming New Zealand's favourite summer domestic competition, and with over 1.3 million Kiwis tuning in on TV alone last year, we hope to see it reach new heights this summer," stated Weenik, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
The Super Smash will coincide with New Zealand men's white-ball series against Sri Lanka, which comprises three T20Is followed by as many ODIs. However, the women's side's players are anticipated to be available for the whole tournament.
