Mentally and physically affected by portrayal of criminal based on false allegations: Sandeep Lamichhane

The former skipper of the Nepal team, Sandeep Lamichhane has currently isolated himself after the district court of Kathmandu issued an arrest warrant against his name. The 22-year-old is accused of a sexual assault by a minor and even after strict order from the court, Lamichhane decided to take some time before proving his innocence.

In the meantime, the Nepal police are already working on bringing the cricketer back. Reports say that they already are working on the process of getting an Interpol warrant to arrest Lamichhane. However, the youngster took to Facebook to announce that he currently is disturbed by all these and is affected both mentally and physically.

“I came to know about the complaint filed against me and the false accusation of rape. This has not only affected and damaged my mental health but physical health as well,” said the cricketer.

“I have been mentally and physically affected by the portrayal of a criminal based on false allegations, I have been brought back to normal with the advice of doctors and my health is gradually improving and I am planning to return to Nepal as soon as possible to defend the false complaint against me,” Lamichhane added.

Even though in such a tense situation, Lamichhane is currently not in contact with anyone from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). No one is quite sure about his whereabouts. However, the leg-spinner stated that he currently is ill and that is the reason why he decided to isolate himself.

“All these things affected me mentally on the one hand and, on the other hand, I had to go through physical illness. Therefore, I decided to keep myself in isolation for some time,” the Nepalese said.

Lamichhane who played 30 ODIs and 44 T20Is for his country was reported to take a 17-year-old to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur on the 21st of August. It was also reported that the young girl was sexually assaulted on the same night.
