The exhilarating action is continuing in the Indian Premier League season 16 as Mumbai Indians are hosting Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 22 on Sunday, April 16 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. The Nitish Rana-led side has got off to a good start to the innings courtesy of Venkatesh Iyer's brilliant fifty.

Mumbai’s scorching heat seemed to be affecting players with temperatures flaring on the field as Nitish Rana and Hrithik Shokeen were involved in a scuffle in the ninth over of the innings. The KKR captain got holed out at long on on the first ball of the over and was making his way back to the dug out.

As Rana was leaving the pitch, Shokeen seemed to have given him a send-off by saying something which annoyed the KKR captain as he answered back and was about to charge towards the bowler when Suryakumar intervened. Seeing the situation getting intense, the MI captain stepped in to interfere and both players were separated.

Coming back to the match, Mumbai Indians got an early wicket as Cameron Green dismissed N Jagadeesan in the second over of the innings. However, Venkatesh Iyer led the charge for Kolkata and put his majestic stroke play on display smacking MI’s bowlers all over the ground.

Mumbai got their second success in the sixth over as Rahmanullah Gurbaz got out against Piyush Chawla. Wickets kept falling at the other end, however, Iyer continued the attack from the other end and completed his fifty off just 23 balls.

Following Rana’s dismissal, Shardul Thakur hung around with Iyer and the duo added 50 runs for the fourth wicket off 28 balls. Shardul Thakur was dismissed in the 13th over as Shokeen picked his second wicket of the innings.
