New Zealand claimed the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, winning the second ODI by 84 runs. Kiwi skipper Michael Bracewell praises the team’s performances and the young players who announced themselves on the biggest stage of international cricket. A great first stint as skipper for the star all-rounder in white ball cricket.

The second game of the series turned out to be yet another clinical performance from the Kiwis, who outplayed visitors in all departments once again. What will make the Kiwi skipper happier is that they have dominated the series despite the absence of some big international cricketers in the mix. Bracewell during the post-match presentations praised all the cricketers, especially the likes of Mitchell Hay and Ben Sears, who were stars of the match which took place at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

“Just the way we fought through the innings, lost few wickets in the middle, but the way we built partnerships was brilliant. Mitchell Hay played an outstanding innings. Partnership helped us get to a competitive total. It is a testament to the team, we just allow them to express themselves. There is no secret for what allows the new players to come in and perform straightaway. I said a number of times, our domestic game is in a really strong position. Even though not all of us have international experience, they put up a strong performance,” Bracewell said during the post-match presentation.

Just about doing simple things, says Bracewell

“It has been a great summer and we have played some great cricket. For us, it's just about doing the simple things and will look to finish on a high. (Sears) had a lot of injuries throughout his career. He's done exceptionally...put in a lot of work off the field to get himself ready. Glad to see him get the rewards for his hard work today,” Bracewell concluded.

Speaking of the last and final match of the ODI series, it will be taking place at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. This will be an opportunity for New Zealand to win the series with a clean sweep and end with another dominating performance, or a chance for Pakistan to give a strong performance towards the end of the series.
