Mohammad Amir has played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for Pakistan in a career marred with controversies. The left-arm seamer retired from international cricket back in 2020 after alleging that the team management had "mentally tortured" him.

Amir, who helped Pakistan win the 2017 Champions Trophy final against arch-rivals India with a superb spell of 3/16, recently named three batters and three bowlers, who are his favourites among the current players in world cricket.

During a Q&A session on his YouTube channel on Sunday, Amir hailed Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, while predicting a bright future for Shubman Gill.

"Virat [Kohli], Babar [Azam] is my favourite apart from T20s. He is my favourite in Tests and ODIs. Finally, Shubman Gill, as I feel he will be the next big thing for India in future, if he maintain his current form," Amir said.

Amir went on to rank his three favourite bowlers, and Kiwi pacer, Trent Boult bagged the No. 1 ranking. 20-year-old Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah came second in Amir's rankings while Mitchell Starc stood third.

"[Trent] Boult, he is number one for me, then Naseem Shah. These are bowlers, who I feel are complete bowlers and can play all formats. And third would be Mitchell Starc," he added.

Mohammad Amir was confident that Pakistan will do well in the forthcoming ODI World Cup that will be exclusively held in India for the first time. The 31-year-old backed Babar Azam's men to get to the semifinals in the showpiece event, warning other teams not to underestimate the former champions in Asian conditions.

"Pakistan will be in top four and you can't write them off in Asian conditions," he said.

Amir also predicted an India versus Pakistan final and named Mickey Arthur as his favourite coach, hailing the South African for his influence on him during his days as Pakistan coach.
