It has been reported that star Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan is set to be named as captain in T20I and ODI formats. The decision was made after Babar Azam resigned as the white-ball skipper.
Interestingly, this was Babar’s second stint as Pakistan’s captain. He resigned from the role after a string of poor performances and was dropped from Pakistan’s second Test against England after subpar performances. The board also opined that Babar was rested and not dropped from the side. As for Rizwan, he was always at the forefront to become the skipper since the management has already tried Shaheen Afridi.
Meanwhile, Babar and Shaheen are also set to make their comebacks, with Pakistan preparing for the third Test against England in Rawalpindi. Despite Babar and Shaheen being dropped in the previous game, Pakistan is looking towards both players and have kept them in their plans for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Fakhar Zaman is unlikely to be available for the series due to fitness issues.

As for the side’s upcoming assignment, after the conclusion of the Test series against England, Pakistan will take on Australia in a white-ball series as both sides will lock horns in three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODI series will run between November 4 to November 10 while the T20Is will be played from November 14 to November 18.
Speaking of their ongoing assignment, Pakistan and England have scores levelled after the former's win in Multan by 152 runs. They lost the first Test against England by an inningd and 47 runs despite posting a mammoth 556 on the board in the first innings. With the third clash approaching, Pakistan will hope to put in a good showing and clinch the series.
