India’s pace sensation Mohammed Siraj has been one of the best performers in the ongoing Bangladesh series with the ball in hand. It seems that he is trying to get the better of the rival batter Litton Das. The duo was involved in a fiery face-off during the first Test in Chattogram where Siraj celebrated aggressively after Litton’s dismissal.
Even in the ongoing Mirpur Test, Siraj celebrated aggressively after castling Litton Das in the second innings and looked at the Bangladesh crowd and put a finger on his lips.
However, the Hyderabad pacer has made it clear that there is no rivalry going on between him and Litton and everything is being played out within the spirit of the game.
There’s nothing like that buddy: Mohammed Siraj
“Yeah because the crowd was shouting this and that. That’s why I did that otherwise I don’t. When I trapped Taskin (Ahmed) lbw and was walking back (Taskin overturned the on-field decision using DRS), people kept saying something or the other so that’s why did it," Siraj said during a media interaction after the end of play on Day 3.
“Nothing. There’s nothing like that buddy. It’s a gentleman’s game,” he added.
There’s nothing like that. A fast bowler always wants to have a little chit-chat with the batsman to impact their focus. There’s no rivalry between us. It’s just a little fun,” Siraj further added.
While Siraj went wicketless in the first innings after conceding 39 runs, he was really impressive in the second with figures of 2/41. Apart from Litton, the Hyderabad speedster also accounted for the middle-order batter Mominul Haque.
Coming back to the contest, Bangladesh were bundled out for 231 in their second innings to set India a manageable target of 145 runs to win the series 2-0.
However, the visitors finished the day at 45/4 with night watchman Axar Patel going strong at 26. India still need 100 runs to win.
