Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav introduced himself to the biggest stage after performing brilliantly in the 17th edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League). In the two matches so far, he has managed to take six wickets and win back-to-back Player of the Matches awards.

With his sheer pace, Yadav has left even the best of batters without an answer at times. His spells have even led to discussions around his potential inclusion in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

Meanwhile, there is no doubt in his parents’ minds that Mayank will be making his India debut very soon.

"Yes it is in my mind, 100 percent. I hope he makes his debut for India and does well. But more than me, his dad is 100 percent sure. Right now, people are saying he should be playing for India. But from the last two years, his father has been saying that if he wasn't injured, he would have gone for the upcoming T20 World Cup," Mayank’s mother told Aaj Tak.

I knew he was going to be a cricketer: Mayank Yadav’s father

Furthermore, his father stated that he always knew that Mayank was going to be a cricketer and always had his backing.

"100 percent sure he is going to make his debut. When he was 12 years old, I knew he was going to be a cricketer. I was behind that goal. When he got his trial in the 14 age group, I knew then that he was ahead of everyone. So, we worked according to that and he did his part as well. He never disobeyed my instructions, and when he turned 16, he had more power and became more mature," Mayank’s father said.
