Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently came forward and heaped massive praise on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He opined that he sees Bumrah as the Indian team’s most valuable asset and talked about the reception that the pacer got in a recent event in Chennai.

It is worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah made his India debut in 2016, but over the years, he has become one of the best bowlers of the current generation and a threat to every batter around the world. Bumrah has played 195 matches for India across formats and has taken a total of 397 wickets, becoming one of the best bowlers in the side. Speaking on the same, Ashwin revealed that the people in Chennai respect bowlers a lot, and it was good to see Bumrah get that reception.

"We Chennai people appreciate bowlers a lot. He was here for an event as a chief guest 4-5 days ago. We gave him a Rajni treatment. We (Chennai people) treat bowlers very nicely. He should be treated as a champion. I don’t want to name, but Jasprit Bumrah is the most valuable Indian cricketer right now," Ashwin said in a video on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.

India has always been country that is batsman-dominated: Ashwin

Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin talked about the batter-dominated nature of India. It is worth noting that India is set to take on Bangladesh in a two-game Test series. The series is set to begin from September 19, and the first game will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After the Bangladesh series, India will take on New Zealand in a Test series, which will be followed by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

"India has always been the country that is a batsman-dominated country, and it’s never going to change. But I am so glad and happy that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. We should celebrate him even more,” Ashwin said.
