In a dramatic turn of events, former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has taken legal action against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited. The case, filed in a Ranchi court, revolves around an agreement inked in 2017 between Dhoni and Diwakar, where they aimed to establish a global cricket academy. Allegedly, Aarka Sports failed to meet the specified conditions of the agreement that included the payment of franchise fees and profit sharing.

Despite repeated attempts to resolve the matter and multiple legal notices sent by Dhoni, the terms laid out in the agreement remained unfulfilled. Consequently, on August 15th, 2021, he revoked Aarka Sports' authority letter. Represented by Dayanand Singh from Vidhi Associates, the World Cup-winning captain claimed to have suffered a loss of over Rs 15 crore due to deceit and non-compliance by Aarka Sports. Additionally, Simant Lohani, a close friend of his, has filed a complaint alleging threats and verbal abuse from Mihir Diwakar following their legal action against Aarka Sports.

This legal turmoil arrives amidst the wicketkeeper batter's personal challenges as the cricket icon underwent knee surgery in June 2023, successfully carried out at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital. His recovery became a subject of widespread interest, with the helicopter shot specialist spending time in Ranchi before reappearing publicly as he engaged in his passion for vintage cars and connected with fans.

Dhoni’s off-field shenanigans continue to grab limelight

Recently returning from Dubai, where he celebrated New Year's Day with family and friends, the 42-year-old was accompanied by fellow India cricketer Rishabh Pant. Pant, who has been recuperating from severe injuries sustained in a life-threatening car crash in December 2022, joined his team Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2024 mini-auction held in the UAE on December 19.

During the auction, Pant was seen alongside the Delhi Capitals team management, signalling his progress on the road to recovery. The 'Captain Cool', who also marked Christmas in Dubai with loved ones, has been actively navigating both personal recuperation and legal proceedings, garnering attention within and beyond the cricketing arena.
