MS Dhoni is the God of Jharkhand cricket: Saurabh Tiwary

Amidst the storied tradition of Indian cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's influence is undeniably significant. Former Indian cricketer Saurabh Tiwary recently heaped praise on the iconic captain, referring to him as the 'God of Jharkhand cricket' due to the significant impact he has had in the state.

Tiwary's feelings encapsulate both admiration for Dhoni's cricketing prowess as well as the deep-rooted influence he has exerted on his home state. It is but obvious that the players associated with him feel fortunate enough to have shared memorable moments on the pitch with him.

He is the only Indian captain to have clinched all three major ICC white-ball tournaments, including the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Yet, beyond trophies and records, Dhoni's impact resonates deeply within the cricketing fraternity, especially in Jharkhand.

Tiwary stated that Dhoni single-handedly put Jharkhand on the map and enriched its profile due to his phenomenal international success over the years. 

"MS Dhoni is the God of Jharkhand cricket. Ever since he started playing for India, people started knowing us as a team. They came to know where Jharkhand is. MS Dhoni gave us confidence and whenever he is around or in the town, he comes to attend our practice sessions. Sometimes, he takes part in the warm-up games also. His support is everything for us," Saurabh Tiwary told Sports Now.

Moreover, Tiwary also shed light on Dhoni's supportive and trusting leadership style, "Dhoni bhaiya gives a lot of freedom when he is leading the team. He will stand by you even if you are not performing," he added.

The 34-year-old also spoke highly about Dhoni's wicket-keeping skills, "When Dhoni bhaiya is standing behind the wicket, he helps bowlers a lot. He would tell you how the wicket is responding and also he will help you with accurate field placements," he concluded.
