Former Indian skipper and world champion MS Dhoni mentors U-19 women cricketers
Dhoni shared some insights with the young women cricketers to better help them achieve their goals going forward.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest captains of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the face of Indian cricket for majority of his international career. The 41-year-old, recently, mentored a group of aspiring women cricketers as part of a workshop curated by MasterCard named, ‘Cricket Clinic - MSD’.
The workshop was held in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium, where Dhoni mentored 15 players and shared some valuable tips with them. The aspiring U-19 women cricketers were chosen to attend this workshop through a social media contest that was held by MasterCard.
Dhoni, who won the 2007 T20I World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy as captain of team India, provided the aspiring cricketers with some much-needed insight that would help them excel and enhance themselves as their careers went on.
The event concluded with Dhoni posing with the girls for a picture and even gifting them bats autographed by him. There are also reports that many such events are planned by MasterCard in the future.
Women cricketers today are breaking the glass ceiling: Dhoni
After the workshop, Dhoni came forward to talk about his experience and moreover he shared his opinion on women’s cricket. He also opined that his inclusion in the workshop has increased his belief in the potential of women’s cricket going forward.
"India has always been a sporting powerhouse and women cricketers today are breaking the glass ceiling with their consistent performance and strong determination. My interactions with several women cricketers during Mastercard Cricket Clinic – MSD have deepened my confidence in the future of women’s cricket in India. I am extremely excited to partner with Mastercard for furthering the women in sports movement and offering them a priceless learning experience," Dhoni was quoted as saying by News18.
The workshop and the interaction with legendary Indian skipper Dhoni aimed at getting aspiring women cricketers to develop an interest in cricket, which could be essential for the women’s game going forward.
