MS Dhoni or AB de Villiers? - Virat Kohli has his say on fastest runner between wickets
Virat Kohli was asked to pick from MS Dhoni and de Villiers, his fastest runner between the wickets.
Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers and India batter Virat Kohli shared a great camaraderie while playing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The duo which, shares a special bond on and off the field, has been seen together once again on screen.
Ahead of the 16th edition of the IPL, De Villiers invited Virat Kohli for a YouTube live session for ‘The 360 Show.’ During the fun chat session, they shared some interesting details from their careers.
After a brief conversation, both cricketers participated in a ‘quick singles’ round. In the session, both players were asked to name the fastest runner between wickets they had played with. Kohli picked MS Dhoni for his lightning-quick speed behind the stumps. De Villiers, on the other hand, took his countryman Faf Du Plessis. Notably, as per the rule of the session, the two friends were not allowed to take each other’s names.
“Of course, its not even a question, I have been asked this question before, AB (De Villiers) has by far been the fastest I have run with between wickets, the only other guy I had so much coordination and understanding with was MS (Dhoni). Now I don’t know about the speeds between the wickets, but with him and MS I would not even have to call," Kohli said.
Earlier, the former India skipper opened up on the best atmosphere that he had played in, choosing the ODI World Cup in 2011 alongside the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan in 2022. He also revealed that the 2016 IPL final was something special for him.
“Best atmosphere I have experienced, the IPL final in 2016 was a very special day, it was very very intense, but above that is the World Cup final in 2011 in Mumbai, it was an unbelievable atmosphere. I have never experienced anything like that till 23rd October against Pakistan at the MCG. That night was something else, it was more than a sporting experience," Kohli concluded.
The star Indian batter is now gearing up for the 16th edition of the IPL starting on March 31. Royal Challengers Bangalore will start their 2023 IPL campaign with a match against Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2.
