Former India wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni is among the biggest legends in the game and has played with some of the biggest legends of the game during his decorated career.

The 43-year-old was recently asked about the reason behind why he has never picked an all time XI and the stalwart responded with befitting answer. Dhoni gave an example of one of his press conferences and used the same analogy to explain the cause behind it.

“I have never picked one. The reason is simple. The thing that cannot be, I once said in a press conference, he asked me about one individual who was injured, who wasn't available. So I asked him about it and he said, 'Brother, tell me one thing, what can a team member do for me? Or what can he do for the team?. Why are you talking about the one who is not there?'" Dhoni said on social media influencer and entrepreneur Raj Shamani's podcast.

"There is something like that in India, the one who is not in the team is the better player. Somehow, whether he is injured or not. But the fact is he is not available for selection. The amount of impact he can have on the game is zero. I will worry about the people who can actually have an impact on the game," the former India skipper added.

Speaking of MS Dhoni’s last match, he was been heavily cricticised as CSK lost their third consecutive game in IPL 2025, with Delhi Capitals defeating them at Chepauk by 25 runs. Dhoni scored 30 runs off 26 deliveries and remained unbeaten alongside Vijay Shankar, however, the duo could not take the team past the winning line.
