MS Dhoni’s batting position in Chennai Super Kings is one of the most talked-about subjects every time IPL comes around. Towards the fag end of his captaincy era, Dhoni kept demoting himself and even batted as low as number eight. Under Ruturaj Gaikwad, not much has changed. Even though he has shown his class against Delhi Capitals, by smashing 37* runs off just 16 deliveries, Dhoni once again came out to bat late against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, the legendary cricketer surprised everyone and came out to bat at number five, ahead of Ravindra Jadeja, against Kolkata Knight Riders. Following that, there have been a lot of talks about Dhoni batting higher in the order against Mumbai Indians in CSK's upcoming match. Former cricketer Aaron Finch opined that the keeper-batter should bat a little bit longer as the fans love to see him walk out in the middle.

“Yeah, I think everybody's been waiting for MS Dhoni to bat for a little bit longer and get out there early on. But, I mean, it's just unbelievable to watch, I think just seeing the sheer excitement that he brings people, when he walks out the bat. People are not sure how long they're going to see it for, so it's unbelievable,” Finch said while talking to Star Sports.
Finch also added that Dhoni will get the loudest cheer when Mumbai Indians host CSK on April 14 at Wankhede Stadium. The former Australia captain mentioned that he is looking forward to the clash between two of the most successful teams in the history of the tournament.

“Looking forward to it, I think will be up for the challenge. He always is. He's a wonderful player. MS Dhoni will get the biggest cheer for the day, no doubt,” he added.
Meanwhile, CSK have been impressive in the ongoing edition of the IPL but they have not won a single game away from home so far. With three wins to their name, they are third on the points table while MI are seventh with two wins.
