Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took a dig at Mumbai Indians' (MI) former captain Rohit Sharma for his inconsistency in the IPL 2025. The highest run-scorer in IPL history has scored just 56 runs in five innings at just 11.20 this season. Even in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), MI were chasing a target of 162 runs, where Rohit scored 26 runs in 16 balls.
The former MI skipper hit three sixes and had great intent, but failed to capitalise on the start they got in the powerplay. Because of his inconsistent performance, MI are struggling hard to find the right combination in the top order. Ryan Rickelton has been amazing, but he did not get the kind of support he had wanted from the other end.
Aakash Chopra shed light on Rohit's batting and how he got out on a full toss ball, which was not expected from a player like him. Moreover, his struggling form is making MI quite unsettled in the batting lineup, which is again a major issue for the team.

"In Mumbai's batting, there was a question again. Mumbai cha raja, kab bajayega baaja? That is a big question, but it's not happening. He got a six off the edge, and then he hit two excellent sixes. It seemed like things were going fine, and then he got out to a full toss. If we look at it from the first match until now, he is scoring a few more runs in every match, but it's been many innings. Rohit Sharma hasn't batted the way you expect him to," said Aakash Chopra in his YouTube video.
However, MI won the last match against SRH by four wickets, courtesy of Will Jacks' all-round performance. He claimed two wickets and scored 36 runs. MI chased the score in 18.1 overs. If they continue with their winning momentum, they have a good chance of cementing their place in the playoffs.
