Nothing is going right for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024. The team has displayed subpar performance and are reeling at the bottom of the points table. They have mustered just three victories in 11 games so far. Their playoff dream looks far-fetched and their former teammate has come hard on them.

CM Gautam, who has represented the MI team in past has dissected their dismal outing in IPL 2024. He has particularly chastised the MI’s bowling in the tournament. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, no other bowler seemed to have pitched in for the side. He also highlighted the treatment Hardik Pandya has been receiving from fans is working against the team.

“It's [Mumbai’s performance] worse than Bengaluru traffic. Very, very disappointing to say the least. If you look at the batting, they have a gun lineup, but the performance is very disappointing. Apart from that, none of the bowlers have been standout other than Jasprit Bumrah. Bowling performance has been terrifying except for Bumrah and Coetzee. The trolling and booing of Hardik Pandya across various stadiums have played a major role in the loss of their confidence,” said Gautam to Indian Sports Fans’ founder Sunil Yash Kalra on NewsX.

The way they changed the leadership, I don’t think it was needed at that time: Gautam

There was much debate when Pandya was named the captain of the MI ahead of IPL 2024. The move of stripping Rohit Sharma of the captaincy did not fit well with the franchise's admirers. As a result, the management was criticised and trolled online by the fans of the Indian captain. Gautam affirms that the management faltered in carrying the smooth transitions and the change was not needed.

“The way they changed the leadership, I don’t think it was needed at that time, they could have waited for another season. I would blame the management more than anyone, they are making the decisions, and they are the ones who are responsible for the team. I think Hardik is paying the price of management’s decisions,” he added.
