Youngster Musheer Khan suffered a neck injury due to a road accident in Uttar Pradesh on Friday evening, which ruled him out of the upcoming Irani Cup and some of the Ranji Trophy matches for three months. The 19-year-old hit a century against India A in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy and was set to represent Ranji champions Mumbai in the Irani Cup but due to the accident, Mumbai are now forced to exclude him from plans.
As per reports, the cricketer was travelling from Kanpur to Lucknow with his father Naushad Khan, for the Irani Cup. It was during their travel when the accident happened but the details of the same are not yet made public. His brother Sarfaraz Khan meanwhile is currently in Kanpur for the second Test between India and Bangladesh.

“He didn't travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably travelling from Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the accident happened,” a source told The Times of India.
Musheer on selector’s radar
Musheer was on the selector’s radar after his sensational performance in the opening game of the Duleep Trophy. He helped India B pick up a win over India A and was named Player of the Match in the game but failed to keep up with the momentum in the remaining two fixtures. Despite so, Musheer was heavily considered for the India A team.
His performance at the U19 level was highly impressive and did a good job for India in the U19 World Cup. He has played nine first-class matches so far in his career, scoring 716 runs at an average of 51.14. In the 2024 Ranji Trophy, Musheer hit a double-century against Baroda in the quarter-final, a half-century against Tamil Nadu in the semis and a century against Vidharbha in the final of the competition.
It shows the pedigree he has got, which also helped him get the attention of the selections. The upcoming Ranji Trophy was very crucial for him but now with the injury, it’s unclear when he will return.
