Naseem Shah, who is one of the key members of the Pakistan squad for the upcoming three-match home Test series against England created a laughter riot in the press conference ahead of the opening Test at Rawalpindi on Thursday, December 1.

It so happened that a reporter directed a question towards Naseem which was seemingly not understood by the youngster. However, instead of being defensive, Shah made it clear that his English is not that perfect and that there is only a 30% fluency.

Brother, I have just 30 percent English: Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah was addressing the media in Urdu for most of the session before an English journalist asked him his opinion about veteran England pacer James Anderson who is still going strong at 40. The reporter also asked the youngster to talk about Anderson’s vast contributions to international cricket in the last two decades.

“I think it’s a very big achievement because I'm a fast bowler and I know how hard fast bowling is. He is a legend, we learn a lot of things from him and whenever we meet we discuss something. So, that’s a big thing for him. He is still playing at 40. He is still playing and fit, so you can imagine how hard he is working,” said Naseem Shah.

Nonetheless, when the reporter asked him to explain more about James Anderson’s skills, his reply was, “Brother, I have just 30 percent English. My English is finished now, okay.”

Immediately after the youngster’s reply, everyone present there burst into laughter.

Pakistan will be hoping to win the red-ball leg of this home series. They conceded the T20I series 3-4 to the Moeen Ali-led side in September and were defeated by the Three Lions in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground earlier this month.

In the absence of pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi, Naseem would be expected to play a crucial role in the fast bowling department.
