Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have got Phil Salt doing wonders for the team alongside Virat Kohli in the ongoing IPL 2025. The opening duo have provided decent starts to their team in both the games so far. Salt, in particular, played an extra-ordinary knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Chepauk Stadium even as Kohli found difficult to score runs.

Salt raced to 32 runs off 16 balls, hitting five boundaries and one six. Kohli, on the other hand, anchored the innings. At the post-match conference, Salt opened up about the responsibilities assigned to him by the RCB management.

“Yeah, that’s definitely part of it. It’s been made very clear to me why I’m here at RCB and what they were looking for in the auction to partner with Virat. The dynamics of the partnership. I’m very aware of. It’s to be aggressive and to sort of take the pressure off the rest of the guys. Especially when you come somewhere like here," Salt told reporters.

"If you don’t take advantage of those early seam overs, then you can be left up against it when the spin comes on, and they can really take control of the game. Yeah, it was very key here and that was spoken about," added Salt.

It was a historic win for RCB as beat the hosts in their backyard after 17 years. The team is looking confident and balanced at the moment Under captain Rajat Patidar. RCB are at the top of the points table currently.

Skipper Patidar slammed a magnificent half-century against CSK, proving his potential. Moreover, Josh Hazlewood was impressive with the ball, scalping three wickets and conceding just 21 runs in four overs. Despite having three world-class spinners, CSK lost the game which will make them reflect on their playing XI.
