The 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently became the youngest player ever to be selected in the IPL (Indian Premier League) auction. Vaibhav was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the auction for INR 1.1 crore, and after notable performances in domestic cricket, the southpaw has more than earned his place within the RR squad.
Talking about his journey to becoming an overnight sensation at the IPL Mega Auction, Suryavanshi’s father recently came forward and branded his son as the son of Bihar. He also talked about the days of hardship when he used to take his son to cricket coaching.
“He is not just my son now but entire Bihar’s son. My son has worked hard. At the age of 8 years, he excelled at U-16 district trials. I would take him for his cricket coaching to Samastipur and then take him back,” Sanjiv Suryavanshi was quoted as saying by News18.
RR still on hunt for second IPL title
Speaking of Rajasthan Royals, the franchise had a quiet day on the first day of the mega auction. However, they managed to rope in many names on the second day. With the likes of Tushar Deshpande, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, and many more stars in their line-up, the side will hope for a good season in the IPL 2025.
It is worth noting that Royals have been one of the best performers of the IPL since 2022, reaching the summit clash in 2022. The side failed to reach the knockout stages in 2023 but put in an excellent performance and came very close in 2024.
With a revamped squad ahead of the IPL 2025, Royals will hope that with a brand-new core of players, the side will be able to improve and get their hands on their second IPL title.
