New York Strikers signed up Andre Fletcher and Wahab Riaz for the upcoming sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 (2022) tournament on Tuesday, September 27. Strikers are the latest entrants this season and will be making their debut in the sixth edition of the tournament starting from November 23.
The tournament has been a huge success in the past and new teams and players are expected to make it more entertaining this season.
The players' draft was scheduled on Monday (September 26) and New York Strikers were quick to rope in some of the biggest names in world cricket. They signed former West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard as their iconic pick and also named him captain for their debut season in the tournament. Strikers have also managed to sign England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan.
Andre Fletcher and Wahab Riaz join New York Strikers:
Fletcher and Wahab will definitely strengthen the squad with their experience in T20 cricket. Fletcher will join the squad alongside familiar Caribbean stars Romario Shepherd, Kesrick Williams, Akeal Hosein, and Ravi Rampaul.
Fletcher was the leading run-scorer for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL 2022 with 229 runs in just eight innings at a strike rate of 106.01. He will be looking forward on having a similar impact in the Abu Dhabi T10 2022 tournament as well.
Wahab, 37, will be a good addition to New York Strikers' bowling unit which is now looking very strong. The Pakistani pacer has taken 382 wickets in 321 T20 matches so far and his experience will come in handy for the Strikers this season. Wahab has express pace and will be looking to use the event to make a strong statement about his bowling pedigree and fitness.
Strikers appointed the former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh as a mentor for the team last week. Apart from Yuvraj, they have also roped in Carl Crowe as coach of the unit.
