New Zealand add Jacob Duffy to squad for Tri-Nation series ahead of Champions Trophy 2025

New Zealand are to play an ODI assignment against Pakistan and South Africa in a Tri-Nation series, which ends less than a week ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Ahead of the tour, the BlackCaps have added pacer Jacob Duffy to their squad for the series.

The New Zealand side will depart for Pakistan on February 03, and Duffy will now be a part of the squad to accompany them for the tour. Notably, his last-minute inclusion comes amid keeping him as a cover for ace speedster Lockie Ferguson, who is currently playing in the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) 2025. Duffy, however, will be kept as a cover for the tri-series, and has been left devoid of a place in the Champions Trophy squad, though.

The Kiwis will enter the eight-team tournament with Will O'Rourke, Ben Sears, and Matt Henry apart from Ferguson as the specialist pacers. Duffy, however, will return home following the ODI series against the Rainbow Nation and the Men in Green.

Speaking of Duffy’s performance in white-ball, he has played 10 ODIs and 18 T20Is, where he has taken 18 and 19 wickets, respectively. The last ODI series he played was against Sri Lanka, where he took four wickets in a couple of games at an average of 17.25.
