Rohit Sharma said that there will not be more surprises on offer from the Indian team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. His comment came after Ravichandran Ashwin retired from international cricket with immediate effect following play on Day 5 or the third Test in Brisbane.
Ashwin called time on his illustrious international career at when he was fifth and third on the ICC Test rankings for bowlers and all-rounders, respectively.
Rohit was asked whether the Indian team will give more surprises during the five-match series against Australia. The 37-year-old said that there shouldn't be another big announcement.

The legendary off-spinner was included in the playing XI for the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. He bagged a solitary wicket before being left out of the side for the third Test at the iconic Gabba. Ashwin finishes his Test career with 537 wickets from 106 matches. Coming to the action on Day 5 of the third Test, fans didn't get to witness too much cricket due to rain and bad light. India were bowled out for 260 in their first innings. Australia tried to extend their first innings lead of 185 runs by playing some aggressive cricket. However, the Indian pacers bowled well and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. The home side eventually declared at 89/7.
The tourists were set a target of 275 runs in a minimum of 54 overs in the fourth innings. However, after only 2.1 overs, the match was stopped due to bad light. The rain also made an appearance and the game was eventually called off. The five-match series remains tied at 1-1, with the fourth Test starting in Melbourne on Boxing Day.
