'No one from NSC communicated directly with me' - Former BCB director unhappy with Board after forced resignation

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has undergone intense change as Nazmul Hassan stepped down from the President’s position and Faruque Ahmed held the chair. Apart from this, the National Sports Council (NSC) asked two BCB directors to step down, it is worth noting that the directors in concern were nominated for directorship under the NSC quota.

Jalal Yunus, cricket operations chairman had resigned following the simmering politics, and BCB director, Sajjadul Alam Bobby has revealed that he resigned unwillingly. Moreover, former BCB President, Hassan had conveyed his resignation through an email, a day before the BCB board meeting on August 21.

"I am extremely surprised and disappointed. What the NSC did is akin to direct interference in the board's functioning. It is wholly unacceptable. No one from NSC communicated directly with me. The BCB CEO forwarded a copy of an NSC notice on appointing new councillor to me on Whatsapp. It was sent to me after the meeting [at Ministry] at 7 PM," Sajjadul said as quoted by The Daily Star.

I am yet to find out about Chandika Hathurusinghe's contract: Faruque

After Faruque took over as the President of BCB, his priority agenda of removing Chandika Hathurusinghe and Head Coach was catching fire. The 58-year-old was adamant about replacing Chandika and has revealed that the management is already on a lookout for a suitable candidate. It is worth noting that, Chandika’s stint was about to end in February 2025.

"I am yet to find out about Chandika Hathurusinghe's contract. I have to see some stuff officially but I have not moved from my previous stance. I have to speak to my colleague over the next two or three days, and see if we can find someone better than him. We have to prepare a shortlist, and see who wants to join us,” said Faruque.
