In a special program, Virat Kohli's coach Rajkumar Sharma, and former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan engaged in an in-depth discussion about Kohli's preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 and his ongoing communication with his coach. The discussion was hosted by Sunil Yash Kalra, founder of Indian Sports Fans, and covered several important topics related to Kohli's current form and strategies.
Regarding the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, Rajkumar Sharma provided insights into his regular interactions with Kohli. He mentioned that he speaks with Virat every two to three days to discuss various aspects of his batting. Furthermore, Sharma also highlighted that Kohli revealed to him he was not currently focusing on any specific preparations for the World Cup.
Instead, he had been concentrating on taking each match as it came. This approach allows him to stay in the moment and perform consistently without the added pressure of future tournaments. Sharma’s comments reflect Kohli’s commitment to maintaining a steady performance by focusing on immediate goals rather than distant ones.
"I talk to Virat every 2-3 days where we discuss his batting. Virat mentioned that he is currently focusing on one match at a time and does not have any special preparations for the World Cup yet," Sharma told Indian Sports Fans founder Sunil Yash Kalra during a live show on NewsX channel.

On the topic of playing unconventional shots in T20 cricket, Sharma praised Kohli's adaptability and continuous improvement. He stated that there is no need to teach Kohli new techniques at this stage of his career. Kohli has been enhancing his skills independently, which is evident in his ability to play shots like the sweep and reverse sweep effectively in T20 matches. This self-improvement is a testament to Kohli's dedication to his craft and his willingness to expand his repertoire of shots to remain competitive in the dynamic format of T20 cricket.
"There is no need to teach him anything new now. He is continuously improving on his own, which is why he is able to play sweep and reverse sweep shots in T20 matches," Kohli's childhood days coach concluded.
