Finally, the time has arrived for the mega cricket carnival in the form of the ODI World Cup 2023 and with that plenty of debate has started about the teams who are yet to start their campaign. As the countdown has already started, several captains have also started chalking out their final tactical plans against their opponents. While preparing a plan is an important aspect, the optimism in a captain regarding their top players is also another element which pushes the whole team to give their best on the field with both the bat and the ball.

In the same vein, Australia are looking to make a great start against none other than the hosts, India and captain Pat Cummins seems quite hopeful that his explosive veteran opener David Warner to come up well in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. He lauded the opener for picking up at the right time and for showing consistency for some time. Notably, Warner had produced consecutive half-centuries for Australia in the recently concluded ODI series versus India.

“Dave’s been fantastic in the last month, particularly in white-ball cricket. Not only is he scoring runs, he is being aggressive. He is taking the game on and getting the innings off to a good start. So, I’m expecting a great tournament from Dave. He has been consistent, and I am loving the way he is going about it,” Cummins stated as per India Today.

Our batting order played a lot in India, so they know most of Indian bowlers: Pat Cummins

Notably, Australia will lock horns with Team India in their ODI World Cup 2023 opener on Sunday, October 8, in Chennai. Pat Cummins revealed that his troop has been playing a lot of spin bowling keeping in mind the Indian conditions. Also, the Men in Yellow recently played an ODI series against India, where they lost the series by a 2-1 margin. However, Cummins believes that his batters have already charted plans to tackle spin bowlers.

“Our preparation starts with training for the next few days before the game. The Australian guys play a lot of spin. Out batting order had played a lot in India and done well, so they know most of the (Indian) bowlers and they have a plan in place,” Cummins stated.

Furthermore, Pat Cummins did not miss out on reminding that his side won the last ODI of the series against India, which boosted the confidence of the Australian batters a great deal as they form most of their strongest playing XI. Besides the 30-year-old also iterated that Australia have a good record against India in the 50-over format.

“We are really confident. We had a good win in the third ODI (in Rajkot), which is probably a bit closest to our strongest XI. We have had pretty good records in ODIs in India,” the Australian captain concluded.
