Many Indian cricketers have a sheer love for football and it was evident when Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah pulled out a Marcus Rashford celebration during the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan. Especially, when it comes to club-level football, several renowned stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have displayed their admiration for football. Hence, it comes as no surprise when Bumrah displayed his love and admiration for the renowned Manchester United. Notably, during India's ODI World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, October 11, the pacer came up with a Marcus Rashford-like celebration after he picked a wicket, which indicated his love for the renowned English Premier League club.
In the same vein, during the post-match press conference, while interacting with the journalists, when Bumrah was asked about his imitating the celebration of the Manchester United star footballer, he said that the celebration was not planned before. The 29-year-old called it an instinctive move by him as he just felt like celebrating his wicket rather spontaneously. Notably, on the fourth ball of the seventh over of Afghanistan's innings, Ibrahim Zadran fell prey to a well-directed outswinger of the gun quick bowler after his 22-run knock and ended up handing an easy catch to KL Rahul behind the stumps. In the follow-up, Jasprit Bumrah was spotted pointing out his finger towards his head just like Marcus Rashford does while celebrating his goals for United.
"Nothing like that. I just felt like it, so I did it," Bumrah said during the press conference after the game.
Mohammed Siraj is known for imitating Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Siuuu' celebration
Interestingly enough, during his previous visit to Manchester, Jasprit Bumrah was bestowed with a customised Manchester United home jersey. Besides, this was not the only time when a renowned Team India cricketer celebrated their feat or wickets by imitating a famous footballer. Other Jasprit Bumrah, his pace counterpart, Mohammad Siraj, often celebrates his wickets by pulling out the world-renowned "SIUUU" celebration of Portugal star and captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking of Bumrah's next assignment, the unorthodox pacer will be gearing up for the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan, which will be played at his home ground. As both the arch-rivals have won back-to-back games in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the intense rivalry between the two nations is even more worthy to witness. Hence, it will be a special game for the Ahmedabad-born when he steps out on the field on Saturday, October 14, in a bid to decimate Pakistan's batting lineup.
