NZ vs ENG 2024: Ben Stokes walks of field in third Test due to hamstrings injury
England skipper and star all-rounder Ben Stokes goes off the field due to the recurrence of an old hamstring injury in the 3rd Test against New Zeland
England skipper Ben Stokes had to leave the field in the 56th over of the second innings due to hamstring problems in the third Test vs New Zealand. The two-time world champion's injury problems are not coming to an end which is a big issue for the visitors who are currently struggling in the 3rd Test in Hamilton.
The England side might have got the better of the home side in the New Zealand series winning the first 2 Test matches, but the third Test in Hamilton is where the Kiwis have control. England need to chase down a target of 658 and are currently struggling at 18-2 and have lost both their openers at the end of day 3.
This might result in England's one of the biggest losses in a Test match in terms of runs as England need 640 runs to win after the end of Day 2 of the final Test.
Stokes was leading the side well in the series and was giving some great performances as well. Due to this incident, there could be a chance that England will be one batter short as well in an attempt to draw the match and stay unbeaten in the series since he will be receiving treatment and will be assessed on whether he will come on to bat or not.
Stokes has had another decent series as an England Test captain in the three-match series where he has scored 158 runs at an average of 52.67 and 7 wickets to his name. Stokes has proved to be one of the most reliable players with both bat and ball and the England team will be hoping that his injury problems are solved as soon as possible. Stokes had already suffered a knee injury last season and will be hoping that this hamstring issue does not cause more problems in his career.
