Following Shubman Gill, the well-known Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle has also contracted Dengue fever. Unfortunately, this means that Harsha Bhogle will not be able to participate in the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match, a highlight of the 2023 World Cup group stages. Harsha Bhogle shared this disappointing news with his fans and well-wishers on social media, expressing his regret at missing the opportunity to cover the much-celebrated clash between India and Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup.
In a heartfelt message ‘The Voice of Cricket’ revealed that he has fallen victim to Dengue fever, which has left him physically weakened and with diminished immunity. Resultantly, Bhogle will be unable to grace the commentary box with his presence for the India-Pakistan encounter scheduled for October 14 in Ahmedabad. Nonetheless, the resilient Bhogle aspires to make a triumphant return to the commentary arena in time for another game on the 19th.
"I am disappointed at having to miss out on #IndiavsPak on the 14th. But I have dengue, and the resultant weakness, and lowered immunity, will make it impossible. I am hoping to be back in time for the game on the 19th. My colleagues, and the broadcast crew, have been very helpful (and took on the extra workload during the second half of #IndiaVsAus) and I look forward to saying thank you to them in person,” Bhogle wrote on ‘X’
Shubman Gill falls prey to Dengue fever
The unfortunate development comes as a double blow for cricket fans as India’s World Cup campaign was previously shaken by the news of in-form opening batter Shubman Gill also contracting Dengue. While Gill is accompanying the squad, his participation in the high-octane India-Pakistan showdown remains uncertain.
