India and Australia are slogging it out in the ODI World Cup 2023 final at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.

Pat Cummins won a crucial toss and opted to bowl first, taking the dew factor into consideration. Experts reckoned that the pitch was dry and it was imperative that the Indian batters put the Aussie bowlers to the sword while the ball was hard and new. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who batted with the live-by-the-sword-die-by-the-sword motto throughout the tournament, didn't alter his approach in the final.

The 36-year-old took the Australian bowlers to the cleaners from the outset. In the second over, Rohit hit Josh Hazlewood for back-to-back boundaries and didn't take a backseat thereafter. He played fearlessly and scored a quickfire 47 off 31 balls, hitting four fours and three colossal sixes. After hitting Glenn Maxwell for a six and a four, Rohit stepped out to attempt another big shot. However, he sliced the ball and Travis Head ran backwards from cover-point and dived full-stretch to complete an exceptional catch. It needed something special to dismiss the Mumbai batter and Head delivered.

He hit three fifties and a solitary century in the marquee event. 401 out of the 597 runs came inside the first PowerPlay at a strike rate of 135.
