ODI World Cup 2023: South Africa create history by hitting most sixes in a single World Cup edition

South Africa have been having a dominant run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they’ve won five out of their first six matches so far. The Temba Bavuma-led side are ranked on the top of the points table with ten points to their name having a positive net run rate of +2.032. Barring one loss against the Netherlands and a close one-wicket win over Pakistan, South Africa have crushed their opponents with over a 100-run victory in all of their fixtures.
The Proteas have scored 300-plus totals every time they’ve batted first and even registered the highest total in the history of the ODI World Cup scoring a mammoth 428/5 in their opening fixtures against Sri Lanka. During their seventh game against New Zealand, South Africa created history as they registered the most number of sixes in a single edition of the World Cup.

The Proteas have hit 82 sixes so far in the tournament leaving behind England’s tally of 76 maximums achieved in the 2019 edition. Quinton de Kock has been the wrecker-in-chief for South Africa having clobbered 18 sixes so far in the tournament followed by Heinrich Klaasen who has 17 maximums to his name.
Apart from them, Marco Jansen (9 sixes, 6 innings), Aiden Markram (8 sixes from 7 innings) and Rassie van der Dussen (7 sixes from 7 innings) have also made significant contributions to South Africa’s six-hitting party. De Kock (545 runs), Markram (362 runs), Van der Dussen (353 runs) and Heinrich Klaasen (315 runs) have been in sensational form in the ongoing edition having as they’ve unleashed their wrath on the opposition time and again.
