Former Australia head coach Justin Langer warned Ollie Robinson that he would get ‘ripped apart’ unless he delivers in the remainder of the five-match Ashes series. Notably, the Aussies to a 1-0 lead after a dramatic victory on the final day, at the Edgbaston in Birmingham in the first Test.
The high-voltage clash saw its share of banter, highs and lows endured by both sides in the enthralling contest. In the midst of the Test, English pacer, Ollie Robinson, was seen giving a proper send-off to Australia southpaw, Usman Khawaja, in the third innings after the latter departed for a magnificent score of 141 runs.
Following the loss at Edgbaston, former Australian cricketer, Langer handed a warning to Robinson for his on-field antics as he stated that the bowler will need to deliver else, he will get ‘ripped apart’.
“The interesting thing now will be how Robinson, and England, react to this. Will there be more animosity to come? Will he be England’s sledger-in-chief for the rest of the series? If he is, his mates must all back him up or Ollie will get ripped apart if he dishes it out without delivering. He might say it doesn’t bother him, but these things tend to have a cumulative effect over time,” Langer wrote in The Telegraph.

In addition to this, Justin Langer highlighted Ponting’s response to Robinson after the English pacer referenced Australia’s past on-field actions to defend his point. While commentating on air, Ponting expressed his displeasure on being dragged unnecessarily as mentioned by the English pacer.
“Sledge ex-captain Ponting, the much-loved little master of Australia, and there is always going to be a backlash. You’re taking on an entire country here. It was always going to provoke a reaction from Aussies back home and here. Like a junk-yard dog, we protect our own. Great teams hunt in numbers, that was one of the strengths of previous teams I have played in,” Langer concluded.
