Harmanpreet Kaur-led team India emerged victorious in a Super Over thriller against Australia women in the second of the five-match T20I series. India batter Smriti Mandhana, who played a vital role for the side with the willow expressed that the contest was perhaps one of the most entertaining games the players were part of.

The Women in Blue pulled off a sensational win in the six-ball contest thereby registering a win and leveling the series 1-1. Delighted with the win in the Super Over, Mandhana opined that the neck-to-neck contest was thoroughly entertaining for both sides.

"Happy to see such wickets prepared for women's cricket, you'll get high scores, high run chases. I think this is one of the most entertaining games we've all been a part of. When they were batting, I realised it was an amazing wicket, I had my eyes on a big score. Didn't want to make the same mistake as the last innings,” told Mandhana at the post-match presentation.

Requiring five to win off the last ball while chasing 188, India’s Devika Vaidya hit a four to tie the match and play the six-ball contest. In the Super Over, Richa Ghosh and Mandhana blasted 20 runs upon which the Australian side could only manage to score 16.

We could have got even 200: Harmanpreet Kaur

Following the win, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made an honest assessment of the performance, stating that the side will need to work on setting totals. Harmanpreet further told that she had backed Richa Ghosh to explode as she did against the Aussies in the second T20I match.

"We backed ourselves. If someone could get a bit more, then we could have got even 200. So that was the plan today, to back ourselves. I was always backing her (Richa Ghosh), even when she wasn't getting runs. Today we saw what we could do with her power-hitting,” said Harmanpreet.

As India level the series 1-1 with the visitors, it will be interesting to see what transpires considering that there are three matches to go. Both sides will look to strike a balance in their squad ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023.
